IT was probably the hat-trick football-loving Somerset couple Lucia and Luis Mesquita least expected to score, but the proud parents are having to adapt quickly to having three young mouths to feed after the birth of their adorable triplets.

Some might say childbirth and parenting are as easy as ABC but Lucia and Luis decided to use the philosophy differently by naming their three sons Alexander, Benjamin and Cameron in ABC fashion.

The brothers were born at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, with Alexander the heaviest at 4lb 15oz and Benjamin the lightest at 3lb 15oz.

Multiple births can often be beset with health problems, but not for Lucia.

“It was fine,” she said, after her triplets were able to go home within a couple of weeks of being born.

“The nurses and doctors at Musgrove were fantastic – I can’t thank them enough.”

Lucia, 28, from Slovakia, moved to Chard in 2006 and met Luis, 36, from Portugal, a year later. They married in 2010.

Proud dad Luis said life had changed completely since the birth.

“It’s busy, busy, busy all the time,” he said.
