AN EXCITING campaign designed to get young people involved with the National Park has been launched on Exmoor.

The Campaign for National Parks (CNP) Mosaic Youth Project will be rolled out through a number of events which will showcase different opportunities for youngsters, promoting fun in the outdoors through conservation activities, work experience and training.

Exmoor youth project officer Barney Simmons said: “It’s a rewarding challenge recruiting Young Champions who will learn about National Parks and promote them to their friends and communities.

“Young people will also get the chance to advise National Park Authorities on products and services, so if you want to get involved – get in touch.”

At the recent Haddon Hill Big Adventure Day Young Champions made dormouse boxes, offered face painting and discussed the project with Nick Holliday, deputy chairman of Exmoor National Park Authority and a CNP trustee.

Ben Fogle, CNP chairman, said: “National Parks are an extraordinary canvas for younger people to develop new skills and confidence and young people can do a tremendous amount for National Parks in return.

“Mosaic gives an exciting opportunity for younger people to get involved in these amazing places, giving themselves and our National Parks a chance for a great future.”
