NINE fire teams were sent to investigate an explosion at a factory near Ilminster this evening (August 1).
The Fire Service received a call reporting a fire and explosion at Branston Potatoes, Upton Lane, Seavington St Micheal, at around 8pm.
One fire crew from Ilminster, two from Martock, one from Crewkerne, a gas detector from Yeovil, an incident command vehicle from Ilminster, the incident support unit from Yeovil and the water carrier from Yeovil were sent to the scene.
A fire service spokesman said: "Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed smoke issuing from a chiller refrigeration unit, measuring two metres by three metres, outside of the main building.
"Fire crews investigated the area using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus wearers to confirm the fire was extinguished.
"20% of the refrigeration unit was damaged by fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental."
