THIS photo suggests how Hinkley Point may look with a new nuclear power station.
A giant dome, 43m in diameter and weighing 260 tonnes, has been installed on the reactor building at Flamanville EPR in France – the same reactor proposed for Hinkley C.
Workers will weld around the circumference of the dome to make leak-tight before cladding it with 7,000 metric tonnes of concrete.
Flamanville EPR is the first nuclear power plant to be built in France for 15 years and is scheduled to start producing electricity in 2016.
