A CHILD is in hospital after being in collision with a car on Furnham Road, Chard, yesterday (July 19).

Police and ambulance services attended the scene at around 4.45pm and closed off the road for just over three hours.

An air ambulance was also called to the scene but the school-aged boy was taken by road ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton where he is being treated for head and leg injuries.

One witness, who praised the efforts of the emergency services, said: “Luckily the boy didn’t have to go by air. They do a fantastic job people, we all need to help with their funding to keep them flying.”
