Masquerade ball for Taunton Christmas lights
HOPES of Christmas lights above streets in the centre of Taunton will be severely dented unless more tickets to a fund-raising masquerade ball are sold.
The lights above North Street, East Street and Corporation Street were all rented last year and, therefore, funds are needed to pay for those again this year.
The only lights which were bought from last year’s fund-raising were the ones that surrounded the Market House and trees nearby.
Cllr Kelly Durdan is organising the fund-raising and is staging the glittering ball on Saturday, June 29, from 8pm to 1am.
But she needs to sell more tickets in order to make the event at Taunton School viable.
Cllr Durdan said: “This is a community project so we need everything to help make Taunton’s Christmas lights a spectacle this year.
“I know there is a lot going on but we need the support and even though there are more events arranged this is one of the major ones to help raise the money we need.”
Tickets for the ball cost £12 for evening entertainment including the band Graffitti, who also performed on stage at the Make Taunton Sparkle event last Christmas.
Fifty per cent from each ticket sold will go directly to the Taunton Christmas Lights Fund.
Tickets can be bought from Cllr Durdan direct on 07789-871856 or through the box office by visiting www.tauntonboxoffice.co.uk
