IF you fancy two exhilarating nights of live music then head down to The Square and Compass Inn, Ilminster, this weekend for a Rock and Blues Weekend.

Queen of Blues Connie Lush will take to the stage this Friday night. Connie has earned herself a deserved place in the Gallery of the Greats having won Best Female Blues Vocalist for five separate years.

As a famous face on the continent, Connie has played concerts across Europe and was honoured in the French Blues Trophies awards as European Singer of the Year 2002 and has even toured the UK with guitar legend BB King.

On Saturday Gerry McAvoy’s Band of Friends will play a tribute to Irish blues superstar Rory Gallagher.

Their authentic sound is strengthened by the experience of band leader Gerry McAvoy, who played bass on every album Rory Gallagher made.
