TAUNTON School drama students are busy rehearsing for a major summer production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, which opens next week.
Set in Massachusetts in 1953, when the Puritan towns of New England were gripped by paranoia and deceit, the play recounts the events surrounding the Salem Witch Trials.
Swept up by religious hysteria, the townsfolk send people to the gallows for alleged witchcraft – punishments which stem from the allegations of only a handful of young girls.
The classic story, which has been revamped by the young cast, is of one man's quest for morality, redemption and decency.
Performances are running from Wednesday, June 19, to Friday, June 21, at 7.30pm in the school’s Arts Centre. To book your tickets please visit Taunton's box office website here.
