THE wife of a retired solicitor who was driven to cancer treatments by volunteers from the British Red Cross has helped to raise £1,000 for the charity.
Sue Summers, 67, a retired swim teacher, raised the money at the Inner Wheel Club of Mendip, in Cheddar, of which she is president.
Sue presented the cheque at the Red Cross office in Taunton on Monday and was pleased to be able to give something back to the charity,
She said: "The support we received from the Red Cross was a godsend. I’m the president of the Inner Wheel Club of Mendip, based at Cheddar, this year and had the choice of which charity we would support.
“Because the Red Cross hospital transport was so helpful to Mark two years ago, that’s why I wanted to support it.”
Her husband Mark was diagnosed with prostate cancer in autumn 2010 and finished his treatment at the Bristol Royal Infirmary two years ago.
