End of the road for Chard's Blockbuster store

THE Blockbuster DVD and game rental store in Fore Street, Chard, has closed its doors for the final time.

The store is among hundreds being closed across the country after the company went into administration earlier this year.

The Chard branch closed on Tuesday. The Morrison supermarket chain is opening a convenience store at the premises in Chard later this year.

Not so much convenience when you can't park !

Use your legs!. There is a car park behind the Co-op, and another behind Sainsbury's, buth of which have spaces vacant most of the day. Doubt many people will be doing a major shop there. How do you think we managed back in the 50's & 60's when owning a car was a luxury, not the essential it has become today. Even where superstores have massive parking areas, there are those who would rather park in restricted,( i.e. disabled spaces) rather than have to walk the extra few yards

To me a convenience store means that I can park and nip in for my odds and ends. If I have to park in a supermarket car park, then I might as well use that supermarket !
