THREE charities have each received almost £4,000 from Bridgwater College’s Raise and Give (RAG) day.
Cheques for £3895 have been presented to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and St. Margaret’s Hospice after the Student Union raised a record-breaking £11,685.
The funds were raised in a variety of different ways throughout December, finishing with students in fancy dress raising money in Bridgwater’s town centre.
Tracey Baxter, collections co-ordinator for the MS Society, said: “Any donations we receive are used either to fund research or to directly help MS sufferers with home adaptations.
“Everything we receive helps somebody, somewhere, so to receive a donation of almost £4,000 is just fantastic.”
Mike and Denice Perrin, events volunteers from St. Margaret’s Hospice, added: “The staff and patients at our hospices will really appreciate this donation.”
Richard Delderfield, vice chairman of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, said: “This money will help patients by funding more research, which ultimately will lead to a better understanding of the disease.”
