Gathering for current and former Royal Marines in Taunton
SERVING as well as former Royal Marines are invited to join a recently-formed Taunton and West Somerset branch of the Royal Marines Association. Since the inaugural meeting on January 29, the group has met fortnightly at the RAF Association Wings Club in Cheddon Road, Taunton.
But organisers William Harris and Pete Reading are hoping to increase numbers from ten to around 30.
Mr Harris said: “We have had a fair response but we still need new numbers to come along. Being in the Marines was an important time in my life.
"The saying ‘Once a Marine, always a Marine’ is very true and we hope to get more people interested.
“It wasn’t right that there wasn’t an association in the county town, just down the road from the Marines’ base at Norton Manor Camp.”
The next get-together is at 7.30pm on Tuesday, March 26 – turn up on the day or call Mr Harris on 01823-331657 or Mr Reading on 01823-335491 for details.
