Great Burnham Bake-off to return this May

ORGANISERS of a baking competition returning to Burnham this summer say it will be bigger and better this year.

Bakers are being urged to start perfecting their entries for the ‘Great Burnham Bake-off’, sponsored by Positive Wealth Creation, on May 25 at Burnham’s Food and Drink Festival.

After almost 50 entries last year, organisers Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds have expanded the event to include four competitions and professional categories.

Entrants can bake a cake (un-iced), make a tart (sweet or savoury), create a Sugar Craft scene on a sponge cake or bake a loaf of bread.

Beverley said: “We hope families will dig in to their favourite recipes or try something new and get practicing over the Easter holidays.

“Anyone who has ever licked a spoon can stand a chance to win the Great Burnham Bake-off trophy.”

The Burnham Food and Drink Festival will take place on May 25 from 10am to 5pm in three indoor venues and a large outdoor market.

Bake-off entries should be presented by 2pm and will be returned after judging.
