A STANDING ovation demonstrated the popularity of Porlock's winner of the High Sheriff Award for Services to the Local Community.

Denise Sage, manger of Porlock Visitor Centre, was presented with her framed citation by Sylvana Chandler, High Sheriff of Somerset, who spoke of her hard work, dedication and tenacity in her unstinting service to the village and the Exmoor area.

Dozens of villagers packed into the village hall to watch the presentation and wish Denise well, before staying for music, food and drink.
