THREE promising rugby stars at Wellington School have been selected for the Somerset School of Rugby.

Year 8 students Joel Gibson, Angus Hunter and Samuel Smith were selected following trials and will join the school, which is run in partnership with Bath Rugby.

Meanwhile, Tom Fuller was selected for the Devon School of Rugby, which is associated with Exeter Chiefs.

Jon Leonard, coach of the Wellington School U13 first team, said: "Both the Somerset and the Devon School of Rugby programme is about developing all-round skills and potential as a rugby player.

"The coaches are not too concerned about what position players might be playing at the moment, but are looking at individuals who have the physical and mental determination to become outstanding players."
