Sports and Social Club auction this Thursday
MEMORIES of special days and nights at Bridgwater Sports and Social Club are bound to come flooding back this Thursday when a massive range of items are auctioned off.
Everything from a trophy cabinet to skittle pins and a dartboard is going under the hammer at the club, off Bath Road.
As reported, the club closed last week and will be demolished by EDF Energy, which is building a campus for 850 Hinkley C workers on the site.
The auction will be run by Tamlyns.
Auctioneer Ross Whitcombe said: “We are expecting a lot of local interest because of the historical association of British Cellophane with Bridgwater.
“With the closure of the site everything is to be sold with viewing of the lots available from 9am with the sale commencing at 11am.”
Here are just some of the items up for sale:
- Hundreds of chairs and tables
- Disco and sound equipment
- Gas cookers, a hot pie cabinet and jacket potato oven
- Beer pumps, bottle openers and jugs
- A table tennis table and golf clubs
- Bowls markers, jacks and carpets
- A tractor, ride-on mower and ride-on roller
- Football goal-posts and a cricket pitch roller
Tamlyns says the sale offers “potentially a very good opportunity for anyone looking to set up a similar club or business”.
