7:30pm Sunday 10th March 2013 in News By Newsdesk
FIVE motorbikes, a quad bike and dozens of satellite navigation systems are just some of the items stolen from Avon and Somerset Police in the last five years.
Figures obtained by the Weekly News show that the force has been left replacing thousands of pounds worth of items which have been stolen and most of which never recovered.
In 2007, thieves stole 20 sat-navs from police cars among other items including mobile phones, a vehicle mirror and a charity box, leaving the force at least £6,000 out of pocket.
During 2008 and 2009, two motorbikes, one valued at £1,000, were taken along with a further 13 sat-navs.
Most recently, a camera worth £2,000 and a quad bike costing £850 were stolen and not recovered along with various items of clothing including jumpers, jackets, headwear and hand cuffs, batons and torches.
