Bridgwater firm offers fuel-saving tips Bridgwater firm offers fuel-saving tips

MOTORISTS can get free advice on how to get more miles for their money from a car care and motorcycle maintenance company in Bridgwater.

Autofit Motoring Centres, on Wylds Road, is providing people with tips on fuel efficiency and saving money.

Paul Rogers, Managing Director, said: “We are already seeing high prices this year and with petrol and diesel prices continuing to increase, we need to ensure we are using fuel efficiently.”

According to the AA, the average price of unleaded petrol has risen five pence during the past month and is now at 138.32p a litre. Diesel has gone up 4.78p from mid January to the current average of 145.10p.

Paul added: “Simply by having your tyres correctly inflated and your wheels aligned you can save pounds. Also ensuring your vehicle has fresh oil and is serviced regularly will keep it in good condition and save you money in the long run.”

Paul’s top ten tips for using less fuel and cutting car costs are:

1) Keep tyres correctly inflated

2) Regularly check your wheel alignment to keep your vehicle as energy efficient as possible

3) Drive smoothly

4) Maintain a steady speed

5) Don’t rev the engine

6) Change up gears as soon as it is practical

7) Avoid engine idling for long periods

8) Do not overload vehicles

9) Change worn parts

10) Avoid peak hour and heavy traffic when possible.

Seems like paul missed one excellent tip espoused by the travelling community - when filling up, save a fortune by driving off and not paying for it.

Yep. A few weeks ago he was trying to persuade us to put winter tyres on our cars.

My advice is to go to Bridgwater Tyres and Exhausts instead - decent people who don't waffle on about crap and charge you the Earth like auto fit.

I have always had good service from AutoFit, and they don't charge the earth as you claim. Only £99 for a service! saved me from paying nearly £300 from the main dealer that's also a 40 mile round trip away.
They have always been fair to me, and are quite happy to answer any questions.
NO I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM OR AM CONNECTED TO THEM IN ANYWAY. Just think the comment was not inline with my experience.

Still a bit unfair to give free publicity when there are other garages in town. Just googled and can find 4 or 5 features on Autofit - none on anyone else.

Just had two tyres from ken at Bridgwater Tyres and Exhausts - well pleased with price and service :)
