Woodland welcomes wheelchairs and Segways

VISITORS of all ages have been treated to a tour of the tall trees trail at the Dunster Estate as part of celebrations to mark International Wheelchair Day.
Learners from Foxes Academy, nursery school children and senior citizens came together for the event.
West Somerset Community College used the day to launch its Segway tours, which will run until early autumn.
Andy Player, the Crown Estate’s countryside manager, said: “We wanted to use sixth annual International Wheelchair Day to let people know that the forests, fields and heaths of this special piece of Somerset are open to people of all ages and all abilities.
“Whether it is families with young children in buggies,the elderly or those in wheelchairs, the Dunster Estate is accessible and awaiting discovery.”
Marguerite Bowden, from West Somerset Community College, said: “We will be working with the Crown Estate throughout the spring, summer and autumn to run our Segway tours, which offer a fun and convenient way for people to enjoy Dunster’s stunning landscapes and rich history.”
