Firefighters collecting signatures in Taunton last month.
NEARLY 300 people have already backed the Fire Brigades Union online petition to force bosses to think again about getting rid of 20 of the 50 full-time firefighters with part-time retained staff covering their work.
Firefighters are out in Taunton town centre on March 16 when they hope to collect more signatures towards their campaign. T
he cuts were announced in January as part of a £5.5million drop in funding from Central Government.
