Gannett grant helps Reminiscence Learning

A PROJECT to brighten the day of people with dementia and others approaching the end of their life is gathering momentum.
Reminiscence Learning, at the Horizon Centre, Bathpool, is setting up ‘Please Do Not Forget About Me’ thanks to a grant of £8,504 from the Gannett Foundation, the charitable arm of the County Gazette’s publishers.
The project, involving everything from new computer equipment and projectors to pompoms and feathers, will be for people with middle to late stage dementia, and those at the end of their life.
This week, a spokesman said: “We have received training and bought iPads for the project. We are all so excited at the potential for sessions and are busy practising the techniques.
“Dunkirk Memorial House in Bishops Lydeard has booked some one-to-one sessions and our
Activity Angels will be delivering these sessions using a wide variety of multi-sensory equipment including the iPads.”
