A BLAZE took hold of a property in Williton, in the early hours of this morning, completely collapsing the roof.

Six fire engines from Williton, Minehead, Nether Stowey, Ilminster and Porlock attended the scene at Abbey Road, Washford, at around 1.45am, along with a support unit and pump from Wivilscombe and a water carrier from Bridgwater.

Crews tackled the blaze, which had spread from the roof to the first floor, with four main jets after the roof of the property completely collapsed.

It took crews around seven hours to put out the fire and at 8am relief crews had to be called in from Bridgwater and Dulverton.

A building inspector has been asked to attend due to the collapse of the roof of the building. Crews will revisit the scene this afternoon.

Bloody hell Gazette - haven't you got a decent photo of an up to date fire engine instead of an 80's library picture?

To make matters worse, it looks like your photographer is an arsonist - the building shown isn't even alight when the picture was taken!
