Post Office plan for former village pub on Blagdon Hill
A VILLAGE pub in Blagdon Hill is gearing up to become the new home of a modern-style post office and shop, bringing much needed services back to residents since the closure of the old post office last March.
The Lamb & Flag hopes to have the service up and running by the end of next month with the help of a £2,000 business grant from Taunton Deane Council.
Landlord Mark Bond said: “It’s a bit of a step into the unknown, but I want to keep local resources in the village.
“It’s only a couple of miles to Taunton, but there’s a sizeable elderly population who can’t easily get into town.”
The post office and shop, which would benefit from the pub’s long opening hours, would be run from an open plan counter.
The Post Office, the network hoping to bring back the service, is inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move until March 27.
