Very misleading with the Police reference - these are nothing to do with police or VOSA etc..

They have been installed by EDF to monitor HGV movements for the forthcoming works.

Oh and the picture is quite obviously wrong too.

What rubbish reporting - they have already put out an article explaining what these were being used for - don't hey read their own articles ??

There are two on Quantock Road near the cemetary and two on the Cannington bypass but I haven't seen any on the NDR.

Sounds about right for the Mercury, totally the wrong information, wrong photo, etc. Its about time they let their reporters out of their cages to wander freely and see what's actually going on in the area instead of feeding them drivel from the internet!

Originally we were told cameras were for sole use of EDF & would not be providing info to police. They would enable EDF to track their transport vehicles ensuring they stuck to the agreed routes.
Now the Mercury reports they could be used by police to alert them of stolen or wanted vehicles.
It would be nice to get the true story, including who is responsible for the maintenance and who paid for all the installation costs. My guess is the poor taxpayers again, as they will for a large portion of the Hinkley construction along with a guaranteed profit for EDF.
Can EDF or our ministers clarify?

The ANPR on Broadway near the junction with West Street has been there a considerable time, certainly since last year.

Thanks, as I said I didn't know it was there so wonder how effective it's been....

Picking through the document linked above, one thing stood out - an 'authorised' diversion route for works traffic should the A39 be closed is through Wembdon. Bet that'll be fun for all.

Won't make much difference, nine times out of ten when the A39 is closed its on Cannington Straight, which way are they going to send this works traffic then? Probably via Spaxton!
