HUNDREDS of swimmers made a splash for charity at the 25th Soroptimist Swimathon.

So far £11,400 has been raised for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice, Friends of Somerset Young Carers, Taunton Opportunity Group and the National Blind Children's Society following the swim on Saturday (Feburary 9) and Sunday.

More money is expected to be collected from the 65 teams that took part.

Teams of six were challenged to swim as many lengths of Taunton School pool as possible in 53 minutes.

Taunton soroptimist president Pauline Clarke said the event had been a success and thanked those who took part.
