Estate agent's marathon effort in memory of teenage brother

AN estate agent is juggling work and caring for a young family with training for his first marathon in memory of his teenage brother.

Richard Curtis is getting up at 6am for a run before sorting out breakfast with his wife for their two children and heading off to the office at Hollands and Curtis, in Bridgwater High Street.

He hopes to raise £2,000 in the London Marathon in April for the Epilepsy Society, which helped his family after his brother, Matthew, died aged 18 after a seizure in his sleep.

“I'm a bit apprehensive about the race because I've never run a marathon before,” said Richard.

“The Epilepsy Society was very supportive after Matthew died, and I want to give something back.”

Richard is holding a quiz night at the Wyvern Club, Taunton, at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 21, and packing bags for customers on the checkouts at Asda to boost his fundraising.

Matthew, a former student at The Castle School and Somerset College, in Taunton, died the night after he had completed his first day working at the Asda store.

Dozens of his friends and family have raised thousands of pounds for the Epilepsy Society in road races.
