CRICKETERS at King's College helped raise £2,500 towards their tour of Sri Lanka next month.

Somerset cricket legend Marcus Trescothick held a question and answer session with journalist Oliver Cox along with an auction to help generate some funds for the team’s trip and also for local charities and cricket clubs.

The tour leaves on March 21 for two weeks and includes a mix of abilities across three lower year groups.

Director of cricket Phil Lewis said: “We were delighted to have Marcus who gave an inspirational and very honest insight into his extraordinary ongoing career.

“He also offered some great advice to our young, talented up and coming cricketers especially with regards to touring in Sri Lanka.

“We are so glad to be running a tour like this because it will not only allow all of our players to develop their character but also to really test their skills. It is also a great opportunity to include more of our pupils on what are very popular tours.

"The tour party are already training hard and looking forward to what should be a fantastic experience.”
