WILLS Carnival Club is desperately appealing to landowners to help it find a new base.

The club must vacate its current building at Little Sydenham Farm, off Bath Road, before March 2 and needs to find half an acre of land and space for a carnival shed.

Club member Karen Williams told the Mercury: “Our landlords have been great, but they’ve decided to sell up so we need to find a new location.

“It’s meant we haven’t been able to start work on this year’s cart because we’re dismantling the shed.

“The longer it takes to find a new place, the more it will limit this year’s entry.”

The club needs a shed of a maximum of 80ft by 60ft and has dropped leaflets at Junction 24 farmers’ markets – to no avail.

Karen added: “We’ve been looking for about a year and it’s getting desperate now. There must be some landowner out there with enough space.

“We had to enter a cheap cart last year so we’ve been able to save some more money for this.”

The club will have temporary accommodation after next month’s deadline, but needs to find a new home by august this year.

Surely there is room at Bristol Road with all the other clubs.
