STAFF from two West Somerset Co-operative stores have kicked off a year of fundraising for charity Carers Trust in style.
Colleagues at the Minehead store raised £200 after going to work in ‘rock around the clock’-themed costumes in recognition of the 24/7 challenges faced by young unpaid carers.
Manager Melo La Gambina said: “It was a fun way of raising the profile of a really worthwhile cause.
"I think customers enjoyed the spectacle and we look forward to more fundraising throughout the year.”
The Watchet store tried to help shoppers beat the January blues while raising £210 for the charity by holding a yellow-themed event over the weekend.
Manager Debbie Leat said: “As a relatively small store we were delighted to top £200.
“The team really enjoyed the ‘big yellow weekend’ and we’ve had great feedback from shoppers who enjoyed the festivities.
"We’d like to thank customers for their support and we have already started planning future events.”
