CUDOS plays on in memory of Tony

THE Crewkerne United Dramatic and Operatic Society played on last week with its annual pantomime in memory of stalwart member Tony English.

Mr English, 66, died suddenly on Wednesday morning just hours before the opening night of CUDOS’ latest offering of panto Ali Baba at the Victoria Hall.

Producer Ann Brolly took the lead role of Ali for the opening night, stepping in for Mr English’s devastated daughter Diana Hodgson.

He and his wife Polly, along with Diana, all appeared on stage for CUDOS. Mr English also developed an art for writing panto scripts and had a talent for painting backdrops.

CUDOS member Richard Waters said: “Tony was a wonderful person and a magical friend who enriched the lives of countless people.

“Polly and all the family can take comfort from the fact that Tony will live in people's hearts for a very long time to come.”

Mr English was an engineer by trade, while he also did a lot of work with the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton.
