A FIRM which has invested £3million into a new base in Highbridge, employing nearly 30 people, says it hopes to take on more staff in 2013.

Portakabin has opened its regional centre for the South-West in the Isleport Business Park, having moved from a site in Bridgwater.

The new centre, which employs 26 staff, supplies temporary buildings to schools, offices and companies throughout the region.

Toby Sidebotham, manager of the Highbridge office, said: “We needed to expand and increase our presence in the area.

“We are near the M5 and ease of transport links is a key thing.

“There are also some other key companies who have moved to the Isleport Business Park who we have got good working relations with.

“It cost us £3million but it is a long-term investment.

“It's been going well so far.

“One of our main customers is Hinkley Point. We are already doing stuff with them on the new build site; it's early days and there's massive potential.”

“We have aspirations to recruit staff, and we will be opening an operational base for our Portaloo brand here in Highbridge.”
