Breast cancer machine fund gets £3k cash boost

A SPECIAL breast screening machine at Musgrove Park Hospital is one step closer to reality after Olympic BMX star Liam Phillips presents a cheque for £3,000.
The OSNA Fund has already raised £35,000 towards the £75,000 machine which can detect cancer cells in lymph glands after an operation in minutes rather than days The machine in place at the moment can take up to a week to give results back to patients.
Liam said it is a fund close to his heart as his grandmother was treated for breast cancer at the hospital.
Breast Surgeon Jasper Gill said: “It will make a huge difference to the ladies in Somerset with breast cancer.”
