Organisers of Bishops Lydeard community event thank villagers for making it happen
ORGANISERS of a fundraising event have thanked people who came to the rescue at the 11th hour.
Fears that Bishops Lydeard School Association would have to cancel their Santa float passing through the village due to transport issues subsided as offers of help came in from across the area.
After a plea for help in the Gazette, farmer John Burnell and his wife Carole Parnell-Burnell got in touch and kindly donated a trailor, before finding a man called Andrew to drive it around the village.
The event was also made possible after Lee Lawton lent the association a generator to complete the equipment.
Association chair Jemma Winter said: “It was incredible that people, some not even associated with the village, pulled out all the stops to make this happen.
“People like that are inspirational and we’re so grateful that they helped us raise this money. We couldn’t have done it without them.
"We would also like to thank the elves and the villagers for their support."
The association raised £460 for the primary school from the event.
