ARSONISTS are being blamed for a car fire in Chard on Monday night.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the arson attack on a Toyota Celica at around 8.40pm on Monday, January 14.

The incident happened close to the owner’s home in Furnham Road, Chard, and shortly afterwards someone knocked on his door to inform him of the problem.

A police spokesman said: “The Fire Service attended and deemed this to have been a deliberate act.”

Officers investigating the incident would like to speak people who saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously at the time of the incident or who has information.
