ORGANISERS of a Valentine’s-themed charity dinner and dance are hoping companies from the Chard, Ilminster and Crewkerne area will show plenty of heart and support them by donating prizes.

Claire Baker, who is a paramedic with the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and Aimee Storey, who works at Ilminster Ambulance Station, are organising the Hearts and Heroes dinner dance which will be held on Saturday, February 9, at Taunton School.

Proceeds from the event will be split between the Air Ambulance and the Mark Burgan Memorial Fund which is a military-based group which supports the Royal British Legion, the Irish Guards Appeal, INVICTA and SANDS.

Tickets are priced £38 per person and available from Aimee on 07966-586306 or Claire on 07790-904503.

People will receive a glass of Valentine’s Fizz on arrival and will enjoy a three-course meal, as well as entertainment with Soul Solution.

Claire said: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far – local businesses Cottage Flowers and Simply Hair & Beauty have bought tables of tickets.

“We are hoping to boost the funds raised by holding an auction of donations and a raffle.

“So far among other things we have pampering vouchers from a beauty company and items signed by a well-known fashion designer.

“But we are still on the lookout for other generous businesses who make donations that we can auction off.

“We want to raise as much money as possible for these worthy causes.”

Aimee added: “It should be a great night – so please support us if you can.”
