STUDENTS from King Alfred School in Highbridge performed a forensics investigation to solve a ‘murder mystery’ as part of their Challenge Day.

The Year Eight students were provided with a detailed crime scene in the Science Department.

They performed forensic-style investigations throughout the day to build up evidence against the suspects.

Richard Butler, head of Science, said: “The day was a great success and was enjoyed by both students and staff.”

Investigations included chromatography to find out who wrote the murder note, flame tests to identify the poison used and an analysis of the shoe prints and fingerprints found at the crime scene.
