A CASH injection for the football and cricket teams at White Street Sports Centre will take the pressure off fundraising, cricket chairman James Midgley has said.
A cheque for £500 was presented by county councillor David Fothergill to provide additional facilities.
The money came from the county council fund for health and well-being.
James said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive the cheque – it really helps small village clubs like ours.
“We’ll probably put the money towards a second-hand marquee which we’ve been offered which will be invaluable for fundraising events up at the ground, so we’re hugely grateful.”
Cllr Fothergill said: “The hard work by a large number of volunteers has established White Street as one of the best sports facilities in the county.
“I’m sure this grant will be put to good use to offer additional facilities and broaden usage of the site.”
