STORES at Bridgwater's Angel Place Shopping Centre have been blown away by the number of shoppers visiting during the post-Christmas period.
It has been revealed this week that on December 27, there were 16,000 visitors, nearly double the amount on the same day last year.
In total, there was a 26% increase in football in December 2012, compared to December 2011.
The Friday before Christmas, traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year, was 14% up year on year.
Sales were also up in the two weeks before Christmas.
Angel Place centre manager Roger Smith said: “We had a busy Boxing Day but weren't expecting the volumes of people on the 27th.
“It's fantastic we have had so many shoppers at Angel Place and hope it continues throughout 2013.”

Lets hope the people were buying and not just browsing. I also like to support the local shops as much as possible and spent my money locally over the christmas period to hopefully ensure more money going into the local economy. Thankyou to all those people who work in retail and provide a good service.
