Parents urged to think about parking issues
4:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News
PARENTS are being urged to think about where they park when they drop off and pick up their children at Greenfylde First School.
Head teacher John Jeffery has told parents he has received several complaints from neighbours and some mums and dads about ‘unsafe and inconsiderate parking’ as well bad driving practices.
He said: “I even had one case of parents driving on the pavements!”
Mr Jeffery added: “Nobody wants to see an accident and a young person injured or worse.
“Please think about where and how you park and how you drive in the vicinity of the school. I realise that this whole issue is very difficult but unsafe and inconsiderate parking is not the answer.”
Mr Jeffery suggested that parents should, if possible, walk their children to school or park further away from Greenfylde and walk the remaining part of the journey.
“I have asked the traffic wardens and police to monitor the area closely,” he said. “We wish to maintain positive relationships with our neighbours and, more importantly, keep everyone safe.”
