Diamond couple have a sparkling Christmas

CHRISTMAS and New Year sparkled with a diamond celebration for one couple as they notched up 60 years of marriage.
Eric and Peggy Cartwright tied the knot on December 20, 1952, at St Bartholomew’s Church in Crewkerne.
Eric, 85, worked for the electricity board, while Peggy, 84, worked in a shirt factory before they moved to the Taunton area in 1984.
They celebrated their anniversary with a surprise party at Creech St Michael village hall, set up by daughter Jane.
Peggy said: “We’ve had our ups and downs, but we always sort it out and we’ve lived a wonderful life.
“It was a lovely surprise party and a shock when we got a letter from the Queen, too.”
