Big Freeze 50th anniversary - send us your memories Big Freeze 50th anniversary - send us your memories

DO you remember the Big Freeze of 1963 when it snowed and never seemed to stop?

The year started with snow and it didn't thaw until early March, with record low temperatures all over the country.

We're looking for any old photos from that time and also people's memories of what it was like being snowed in for weeks on end.

Please send us your contributions to phil.hill@countygazette.co.uk or call 01823-365100.

I was born in January 1963 living in Staines Middlesex. My mum told me the river Thames was frozen and she couldnt take me out till the march when it started melting.
