EXMOOR cook Penny Webber has created one of the country's supreme sausage sarnies.
Penney has received high praise for her sausage sarnie recipe by Queen of Sizzle' and sausage aficionado Carol Thatcher who has been touring the British Isles to judge the best of the best as part of British Sausage Appreciation Week.
Commenting on Penny's highly original twist, Carol said: "An absolutely scrummy combination of Gloucester Old Spot organic pork sausages with wortleberries on organic wholemeal bread - perfect!"
Britain is already a nation of sausage lovers, with around 182,000 tonnes sold last year.
There are more than 400 individually named varieties in Britain.
