OFFICIALS have discussed potential responses to future flooding.

The topic was raised at a meeting held in Taunton yesterday (November 29) to discuss challenges facing the Levels and Moors.

Representatives from Sedgemoor and Taunton Deane District Councils, Somerset County Council, Somerset Drainage Board, the Environment Agency, Country Landowners Association and the NFU all attended.

The possibility of setting up a Task Force to deal with issues is now being debated.

A spokesman from Somerset County Council said: “The meeting was set up in advance of the recent flooding.

“It didn’t discuss current issues but there was a detailed discussion about a variety of potential responses to future flooding.

“Details will be released when the group has reached consensus.”
