VISITORS to Brent Knoll would have experienced an unusual sight last weekend when the village was invaded by a host of scarecrow celebrities.

The Brent Knoll Girl Guiding group organised a scarecrow trail and challenged people to spot all 50 scarecrow stars in a competition entitled ‘Great British People’.

The figures included royalty, star chefs, actors and sports personalities and competition was tough. The winner was an entry made by Peter and Tina Osborn starring Horatio Nelson and his ship.

Kate Sutton, who helped to organise the event, said: “It was really successful and we hope to do it again in the future.”

Refreshments and a raffle took place in the village hall and all proceeds went towards the Brent Knoll Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger units in international trips to Belgium and Mexico in 2013.
