STUDENTS at Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe embraced a Somerset day as a celebration of the best the county has to offer.

Morris dancing and parkour were just two of the attractions on offer as youngsters got involved in a raft of activities.

Students also visited Sheppy’s Cider and Taunton Museum, and enjoyed apple pressing, willow weaving, wassailing and woodworking.

Elderly residents were invited for morning coffee and cake and were interviewed by budding reporters about life in Somerset when they were growing up and how it has changed.

Head of specialism Julie Elmy said: “This day was planned to extend our students’ understanding of the rich culture in which we live and work here in Somerset.

“The day was a huge success and the school was buzzing with students really enjoying their learning.

“It confirmed what we already knew – Somerset is a fantastic place to live and work.”
