TAXI driver Kevin Wood thought he was going to die when a gang attacked him in Chard late at night.

Mr Wood, of Wood's Taxis, was attacked by a passenger wielding an axe and then two men in hoods, who jumped in the back of his car parked in Catchgate Lane in the early hours of Saturday.

Mr Wood, 58, told the News: "I thought this was it - my life was coming to an end."

He was treated at Musgrove Park hospital in Taunton for a gashed arm and was bruised.

Police are appealing for information - call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
