A FORMER Burnham man received an unusual wedding gift when a plane flew overhead at the reception towing a banner.

Laurence Wheway, who went to St Joseph’s Primary School and Hugh Sexey Middle School, saw the banner which congratulated him and his new wife, Hannah Tempest.

The plane flew over the reception in Truro and surprised everyone but a handful of the bride’s family who were in on the secret.

Laurence’s parents, Alan and Bernie Wheway of Stoddens Road, said: “Laurence and Hannah had gone to great lengths to ensure that the whole day was a joyful occasion for everyone but they had no idea about the plane.

“It was arranged as a wedding gift for them by a friend of Hannah's family who owns the plane and uses it for aerial photography.”

The pair now live in Copenhagen.
