OFSTED joy for Ilminster pre-school

THE staff and committee at the Sunny-Ile Pre-School in Ilminster have been celebrating after being told officially that they are on the way up!
An inspection by OFSTED has seen the pre-school, based on the Greenfylde First School site, upgraded from ‘satisfactory’ to ‘good.’ The inspector reported that children were provided with a “stimulating and well-organised environment”, and were able to enjoy a “broad and balanced” range of experiences.
“Consequently, they make good progress in their learning in relation to their starting points,” said the OFSTED report.
The inspector also said staff were “vigilant” and supported children to become aware of how to keep themselves safe.
Delighted pre-school leader Louise Smith said: “This outcome reflects a concerted effort by the staff over the past year to improve the service we provide, based on the suggestions of parents, and the advice of OFSTED and Early Years advisors.
“We’ll now follow the OFSTED ins-pector’s recommendations for imp-rovement and work towards achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating.”
Inspectors have said that for Sunny-Ile to be graded higher staff have to support parents with their child’s learning at home, while more attention needs to be given to the organisation of whole groups.
Louise said: “We’re very grateful to other local Early Years settings, such as Cygnets Pre-School, Cheekie Mon-keys Nursery and Greenfylde School in Ilminster, for their support.”
