Hallowe'en party: Spooky fun in store
2:10pm Saturday 27th October 2012 in News
IF you thought the spirit of Hallowe’en was dying, think again.
A blockbuster party is being planned at Chard Rugby Club to bring spooky fun back to the town.
Michelle Young, who owns Razook’s Hairdressers in Holyrood Street, has organised the event.
She wants townsfolk to embrace the tradition and is calling on people to pull together and ensure it is buzzing with excitement once again.
“I’m Chard born and bred and I love the town,” said Michelle. “I enjoyed my childhood growing up here and love the fact my children will come to love Chard as much as I do.”
Party fun gets under way from 6pm at the rugby club next Wednesday (October 31) and will include a disco, face painting and wacky hair designs with a little help from Razook’s hairdressers.
But the entertainment does not stop there – Michelle is calling for town centre traders to chip in and stand outside their businesses at 7.30pm with a sweet basket.
She added: “It’s so children can come and trick or treat with their parents.
“After taking my young children out last year they were very disappointed with the amount of people who no longer answer their |doors.
“This will be a fun and controlled environment which will be safe for little ones to enjoy the Hallowe’en spirit.
“I think it’ll be a really good way of bringing us all together – remembering that Chard is and always will be a place to raise our kids and have some fun along the way.”
Entry to the Hallowe’en party is free but there will be collection buckets as all funds are going to the Make a Wish and Little Purple Kitty charities.
Food will be provided by The Secret Garden.
