Original von Trapp child wishes CLOS best of luck with The Sound of Music

CHARD Light Operatic Society had a boost last week ahead of its 50th anniversary production of The Sound of Music – a good luck message from one of the real von Trapp children.
Francoise von Trapp, the eldest of the seven von Trapp children depicted in the story made famous in the musical starring Julie Andrews, lives in the USA and works with Richard Hart, father of David, who was in charge of the sound for last week’s CLOS production at the Guildhall.
She sent an email to show director Nick Lawrence wishing him and CLOS good luck.
“Richard asked me to send a few words to CLOS,” she said.
“I want to tell everyone in CLOS to “break a leg” and, most importantly, enjoy themselves. I’m sure they’ll do our family proud.”
CLOS member Neil Wells, who played Max Detweiler in the show, said: “It was a lovely touch and a big surprise.
“It meant a lot to receive a good luck message from one of the actual von Trapp family.”
